Advertising Rules
Contractor Talk Advertising Rules

Some members of Contractor Talk may work for or own a company that sells tools, equipment, supplies, or other contracting related products and services. It is natural to want to promote your product and/or services on this site. However, in order to create a community that is not continuously filtering through unwanted solicitations the administrators will enforce firm rules in regards to advertising.

Professional Contractors
Contractor Talk is designed for contractors so there are very few restrictions on how contractors can promote themselves. Contractors are welcome to have a signature line that links to their company, link to their blog, use a company logo as an avatar, and talk about their company openly on the site. The only thing we ask is that you never take payment, products or services from any company who offers them to you in exchange for a good review or mention of their company, products or services on Contractor Talk.

Manufacturers and Vendors
We value manufactures and vendors input on the site and appreciate when they can provide product support and answer questions for our members. We do however have some requirements and restrictions for this type of member.
  • You MUST add yourself to the Manufacturers or Vendors usergroup which can be found here: http://www.contractortalk.com/profil...editusergroups This will let members know that you're here in a support role.

  • You may fill out Your Profile info with all your company details so members can learn more if they desire to.
  • You may respond to specific product questions that are asked on the site either by providing support or suggesting the best product for a job.
  • You MAY NOT self promote in any way other than having your signature line and avatar. This includes:

    • Private Messaging members with unsolicited offers.
    • Soliciting the membership for feedback or suggestions on your product or services.
    • Post new thread that in some way promote your company.
    • Respond to threads with short responses that add nothing to the conversation just to get your name out there.
    • Bash other companies products or services that you compete with.
Please Note: If you are going to take it upon yourself to speak for your company please make sure that you have permission to do so from the management in your company.

Service Providers (Web, SEO, Sales, and Marketing "gurus")
If you are a service provider who works directly with professional contractors on a daily basis you're welcome to join the site in a support role for contractors. You are NOT however allowed to self promote in any way. Please read through the following so you can better understand what role service providers can play on Contractor Talk.
  • You MUST add yourself to the Service Providers usergroup which can be found here: http://www.contractortalk.com/profil...editusergroups This will let members know that you're here in a support role.
  • You may fill out Your Profile info with all your company details so members can learn more if they desire to.
  • You MAY NOT self promote in any way in the forum discussions. This includes:
    • Using your company name as your username
    • Having a signature that links to your business or mentions it by name.
    • Using an Avatar with your company name or logo in it.
    • Soliciting the membership for feedback or suggestions on your product or services.

    • Private Messaging members with unsolicited offers.
    • Bash other companies products or services that you compete with.
You're welcome to make helpful posts and support contractors on the site and if users are happy with the information you provide they can click on your profile to see more information, but any other form of self promotion is strictly prohibited.

Please Note:
Users who violate these advertising rules will have their account disabled.

Last, if you have a product or service that you really want to reach the board with then you can buy a banner ad from us. Please Contact Us if you would like to receive more information on advertising.
