Help Demolition
Whats up guys? I need some serious help. I am just stepping out on my own. I have been working in and around construction for 5-6 years. I am trying to get the ball rolling on my business. I am bidding on a demolition job. I am located in NJ and I am having trouble coming up with an estimate for this job. I haven't dealt much in demolition but, I have access to everything needed to complete the job (Man power, Tools, Heavy Equipment, ETC.). I am just not sure what to estimate. I have seen the house and its a 2 story with an attic still contains all furniture. 40 ft by 60 ft. Decent sized house and is definitely going to take a whole bunch of 30 yard dumpsters. I am pretty much looking for advice. What would you guys do?

Now is not a good time to go out on your own. I would highly suggest forgetting about that project and focus on getting a good resume put together.

I did a house demo last year. About same size house, all plaster and some furniture in it. Basement was also loaded with junk.I did not take anything out of the house.
It took 8-30 yard containers and 2-40 yard. Another 2-20 yard containers to get rid of the concrete. The total cost was almost 14k.
I had prices anywhere from 16-22k

It's not the 10 day waiver...here in NJ we have too many bodies in landfills ~ the asbestos will render the remains unrecognizable.
The State is onto the asbestos/decomposition issue and have decided it must be addressed.
You guys in the other 49 don't this same problem.

The asbestos was only around the pipes. Before I purchased the house, I told the homeowner to remove it. I gave him a few companies who handle this work and prices he got between 3-5k. He did it himself, he bagged everything and took to a state dump who handles the asbestos. They took it with no questions asked.
