Glass house demolition

Hi guys wonder if you can help please?

A customer want a 30' x 30' glass house demolished. Am i better of smashing all the glass and squashing the frame with a digger or taking the glass out by hand and grinding the frame?

Thanks in advance

James Cherry

Talk to a few glass shops. You may have something they would buy. In general, glass is not cheap.

I have found the resale of glass to be difficult, i would remove all the glass neatly, and stack in a container dedicated to the glass, then go after the frame, if its aluminum, $ in. If you just plow into this thing, you will make a mess that will keep you busy cleaning up for days ,G

tell the owner to throw the stones!

i would take it out in full pieces if possible
if not, i would get a roll of carpet shield, it's like a giant roll of Scotch tape, put it over the glass and break. this should make a much smaller mess and be easier to control

Most residential & commercial demolition I have done & seen done by others, involves the glass & other junk being removed before the toys come out. I would hate to have to clean up all those slivers of glass, much less think about it. Even if all the dirt was being removed afterwords, you would have to take it all to a dump because it would be a lawsuit waiting to happen otherwise.

Is there a recycling place nearby that would accept the glass?

There's a good possibility that the glass is tempered and if you had to break it, it would explode into tiny, harmless pieces. That would make it pretty easy to deal with. Nevertheless, I would try to find a buyer for the whole system if at all possible, before destroying it.
