Bernz O Matic Recall Worth $250.00

There was a tent heater made by Bernz 0 Matic in the 60's that has been responsible for over 20 deaths. Long story short bernzo has a bounty on these guys worth $250. I've run into 3 of these in the last few years and I think I've read that they believe there are still about 4000 out there. Last week I came across a person that was still using one in their RV. More important than the $250 is getting them destroyed.

The models are Bernz o matic tx 900 and the tx 900a. The 900a carries 2 propane bottles the 900 carries 1. The bernzo info phone is 800- 654- 9011. There should be some boy scout troupe with 20 of these in there closet. They could buy some nice equipment with the bounty. The $250 takes about 10 weeks to get after you send it in. Let us know if you find one in your garage.

Oh and there are some part numbers along with the model numbers in the back door that seem to make it a little confusing so you would have to look carefully for the tx 900.

Start searching eBay, how about a picture, I've got an old one but I don't know what model it is.

You would be looking for a greenish blue box type with a hinged back cover. Inside the cover would be a place for one= 900 or 2 = 900a of the small propane bottle like the ones HO use for a torch. . Round burner on center of the front. I have a picture around here somewhere.

I guess there are some other companies offering bounties and some that should and are not. Sounds like coleman has a few dangerous models too.

A good friend of mine has a Coleman heater that looks a lot like the Benz o matic pictured. It's got storage for two of the normal sized 1 pound tanks and we used it to heat the tent in Canada in late May this year and it worked great. He said he saw a guy with one at a boat landing and that's the only other one he's ever seen.

I bet you money if my friend was able to get $250 for it he'd pass. Those little heaters would be perfect for a small portable or tent.

I'm guessing since they were advertised to be used in tents and had no warning lable to not use indoors they are being sued?
