Want To Make My Clemco 1042 100# Pot A Soda Blaster
Is there a way to make my 100# (Clemco 1042) and turn it into a soda machine? I have 2 600# pots and would like to start offering soda blasting. Wanted to save some money by converting my small pot... Has anyone done this and does it work???

Killzoneq2,
I have not converted a pot but I would check with Clemco. I'd have to say this conversion is going to be determined by the type of metering valve that is on your pot. You will probrably need something like the Thompson II valve or a Sure-flo valve assembly. Also the size metering tube and metering disc. I have a 100# Empire pot that is not designated for soda but rather fine media and I shoot soda with it. It has a Sure-flo valve assembly. If my memory serves me right I believe I have a 5/16 metering disc and a 3/4 ID metering tube in it. My actual soda pot works on a differnet means all together. Media Man |

Re: Want To Make My Clemco 1042 100# Pot A Soda Blaster
killzone,
media man is correct, a different metering valve, or if you had something like a Thomson 2 valve, you can swap the sleeve out for softer media such as soda, vice versa. However, all pots are capable of blasting soda, but they are not designed to. Soda blasting is all about the actual particles hitting the surface. By using a pot not designed for soda, you will be shooting more media than what is required. Now this can get expensive since soda is very expensive if not the most. Your pot has to have a 60 degree cone shape on the bottom in order to blast soda efficiently. I say purchase a pot that was designed to blast soda so you can adjust/regulate pressure with some. You also have to deal with moisture when blasting soda. You really need cool dry air. Rich Kill, how has the business been working out for you? We hardly see you here. |
