Soda Blasting Equipment

Some of you guys may know that i went ahead and purchased a soda blasting pot. Its finally here! My Soda Blasting Equipment

Everything looks great, only thing that i dont like about it is that, Its a 420 5ft Tall pot! Huge!

I need about 3 men to lift this puppy into the bed of my 2500 Ram Diesel.

I also purchased a 210 CFM diesel compressor to tow along with it.

This is a new business venture for me, i hope it works out. I still have my other business (GC, Improvements, EIFS etc....)

All comments welcome! Only thing worrying me right is lifting this sucker into the bed!

Do you guys think its worth it?

Soda blasting? That's a new one on me. I can only assume it's for cleaning surfaces. Is it like a cross between sanblasting and power washing?

How do you get business? Through insurance adjusters? Do you have air scrubbers too?

I read where soda blasting was approved for mold removal. Good for those grow house repos. By changing the tip you can do corn cob blasting. Very good for log home restoration. Oh ya don't forget about walnut blasting, good for car restoration work.

good luck

Using baking for paint removal, mold, fire restoration... etc.. Its getting pretty popular because its water soluable, so clean up is a breeze VS traditonal sandblasting. I wouldnt consider a cross link, its a non abrasive media, 2.5 on Mohs scale, diamond being 10. Will not harm delicate surfaces like fiberglass.

Havent done any advertising yet. Only received the pot yesterday. Once I get everything up and running with some practice then I will start with the advertising. Insurance adjusters, seems like a good start, any other ideas?

Stan, very true. My pot was designed for soda blasting and soft abrasives, but with minor adjustments, i can blast anything, even steel grit. Log homes can be very profitable, but too bad i Live in NYC, i dont i ever seen a log home.

Re: Soda Blasting Equipment

If you don't mind my asking, what's it cost for a setup like that? I'm looking to specialize in something here in Chicago and that seems to have serious potential.

Ted, Im up to 12.5K right now. I figure I have about another 2-3K more to go. This includes my air compressor, pot, hoses, nozzles, breathing...

Just thinking about this kills me. No investment is a sure one, biggest fear is investing all this money not have any jobs come in or not making the money that i anticipate to me. This is why I constantly ask what other people think, where would they think my services can be beneficial.

On the other hand, I still have a diesel compressor which will allow me to run air tools. So im not limited to soda/sandblasting

I still have my other business going strong, so my income isnt dependednt on this yet.

I had a job where a company wanted to come in and blast all the interior framing to get rid of the black mold that was growning on the wood, I would check in with all major Insurance companies and get the info what you would need to apply, I hear there is big money in mold removal. check with your state for license.

Yes, it can be used for mold also, but there more to it when removing mold. Additional processes.

That sure is a nice Schmidt blast pot. The first thing to do is mount that big boy to a lower trailer along with the compressor, get a double axle so you have plenty of room for the hoses, tools, etc. it will save your back lifting it on and off your pick up every time you have to go to on site blaster cleaning. When you're slow and no work offer to do samples or demo's. Remember seeing is believing, once you have peeked their interest. Now you can go in for the kill, sort of speak CLEANING UP & SHOW ME THE MONEY...!

Re: Soda Blasting Equipment

Hello -

Thanks for all the great information. We were wondering why and how you chose a Schimdt Blaster. We are just getting into this business and have been doing a lot of research and are having trouble deciding which pot to purchase. We would be very grateful for any additional information you or anyone could post about what to look for in a blaster. We are presently looking at contracts for food factory cleaning, as well as cleaning oil pipeline equipment, and fire damage cleanup.

Thanks,

RosClean

plaza, I thought you were done. Good luck on the new venture. Get ahold of every insurance agent that handles burnt houses and mold recovery. I would also get a hold of serve pro I did a couple of soda jobs for them that paid for my 13sx. I dont know what you got there but to me tit looks like a 13sx with a t2v on it. I may be wrong go after it. PA
