Sandblasting Pool With Chlorinated Rubber Paint
Would like to hear from anyone with experience in sandblasting ,chlorinated rubber paint from a pool? I recently contracted to do this and was very surprised that it was so hard to remove, these 4-5 coats. Seemed as though it was molded to the pool. The job took 13 plus days with a two man crew. I used a 375 cfm comp. and had a 600 pound pot.Using black beauty, a1/4" nozzle and 110 psi. What did I do wrong? Thank You for your input ! P.S. the pool was 36'x18'x2-1o'.

Re: Sandblasting Pool With Chlorinated Rubber Paint
Are you sure you used a no.4, 1/4 nozzle? If you did that is probably the problem. With a 375 cfm comp. you would at least use a no.7,7/16 nozzle or even a no.8,1/2 nozzle.
Did the paint absolutely 100% have to be removed? Probably best, but not always necessary. We remove failing paint areas and etch good paint then repaint, for economic reasons. Always remember anything rubbery will not blast easily. Did you test blast several areas first? I hope others chime in with more insight. |
