Re: Recycling

it takes a good solid day to empty the vessel and a good 45 min to hour or more to vacuum it up but once it is done i go home and dont have to worry about the rain getting my media wet...i reuse and reuse the media until it is dust and then when i vacuum it up it blows out the filters in the vacuum head up top...then just add another 30 or so bags of starblast.i havent bought starblast in a while and my media use is super low unless i use soda or super k but i use those out in the alley/street next to my property because i dont want it mixing with the starblast because it is like powder when used...i am working with hafco vac on some ideas about the floor tool that vacuums up my media as it wears rapidly cause of the abrasive nature it has.other than that i think a booth will be my next plan and i wll use this for mobile work if needed.

Re: Recycling

I looked into getting a blast booth installed and also found a few homemade jobbies on the net but after alot of thought and short budget I we decided to convert a third of our shop into a blast booth. We built a wall with cheap steel siding then made a big sliding door (half the size of the room) in the middle so that the entire door can open up to half the size of the shop. We put steel on the ceiling and use convyor belt cut into sections to blast on so we dont tear the floor up. On the brick wall I sprayed box liner and it seems to hold up really well. The ventilation duct on the back wall sucks the dust out, we have a vent on the main door to let air in from ouside to compensate the negative air pressure. We blast steel grit with a vacuum cyclone reclaim system. We blast then sweep the media to one end, dump it into a steel drum then use the folk lift to lift it to the top of the cyclone where is gets sucked in and cleaned. Now I spend 2,400 a year on steel vs 2400 a week on glass!! If your building is workable I say build one.

Re: Recycling

Very nice system you have there Todd.

Benny, I talked to both Robert and John and I did order a nova 2000. I should have it next week. I am getting the whole system with the puruifier hoses and some lenses. That's why it's still over $700. But In fact I did save about $50 over the norton package and every bit helps. Thanks

Re: Recycling

Blastpro that is a great set up. If I find a shop to purchase I would consider it. I'm looking for just land that I can put a pole building on. The shops I find are always three hundred to half a million.

Re: Recycling

my old job used to have mobile IPEC Machines. I think they may be out of business but anyway google them. Blast pot on one side, Vaccum on top with dust collection (big one)to the side.
They used to run aluminum oxide in them for recycle. They were good systems and were totally run on air (except a 110v plug for triger)
Although the blast pot was a 600lb

Blastserv, how long does it take you to vacuum that area in the picture? I'm trying to get an idea how long it will take to vacuum my booth, it's 15'5" Long X 12' Wide.

Re: Recycling

My booth is 20x20 and we blow all the media about 1/3 the way in...after that we vacuum it and it takes depending on how much we blasted but anywhere from 20-45 minutes....
