Prices For Media...what Do You Pay?

I contacted a rep at Marco and they're asking $229 for a pallet of 40-70 glass bead. Below in quotes is her response.

"We have 50lb bags out of New Jersey. A medium grade would be 4070 would be priced at 229.00 per pallet there is 40 bags on one pallet. which equals 2000lbs per pallet. Cannot ship less than a pallet. Or you can order this grade from Iowa, same grade at 20.00 per 50lb bag, if not needing a full pallet please advise.

(not sure what 60-100 is)"

I was a little surprised that she doesn't know what 60-100 is when it's posted on their own website. What do you think? How much do you guys pay and how much do you get at a time. Maybe it'd be easier for everyone to list what they pay:

Glass for $229 from Marco
"Black Diamond" for $7.99/bag from Tractor Supply

starblast is what i am mainly using and i bought the last two pallets(2 tons per pallet) for around 630.00 per pallet. i think there was a price break because of the multiple pallet purchase.i believe the pallet each had 40 bags also...works great on alot of stripping applacations. but i am also interested in what everyone has to say about the other media's too.

Re: Prices For Media...what Do You Pay?

plazaman, i thought the same thing! $229 per ton comes to around $5.73 per bag. That's cheaper than sand I think. She did tell me that that price does NOT include shipping. Maybe they double the price, but that still sounds cheap.

blastserv, I've heard of starblast, but what exactly is it and where do you get it from? I'd ultimately rather find someone close to me so shipping is less.

Who do you all deal with? Do you have an "account" or do you just call them and tell them to deliver?

Crushed glass or glass bead? I bought a truck load of crushed glass(40-70) 880 bags and it was $6.80 a bag shipped from Marco.

starblast is mined out of northern florida and is some kind of quartz and staurolite maybe wood or something.i havent researched it further than the msds from dupont.it works real well for stripping and does not really affect the substrate.it acually looks like it has been primed.i have bough it from N.T. Ruddock.i have an account and there salesman comes to my shop and services me.they are based out of ohio and they also ship from florida...oh and did i say it could be used over and over again.

No wonder I didn't know what Menards is. It must be a midwest version of Tractor Supply. I went to their website and couldn't find any way to browse their online store...am I stupid? We don't have them here in PA.

Menards is like a Home Depot only a little larger because of the homes and pole buldings you can buy. A hardware supercenter that now offers groceries of all things. The stuff they have is not exactly top of the line but affordable. Our HD is closing. They can't compete with Menards.
Too hot here right now taking a break and checking the posts.

Re: Prices For Media...what Do You Pay?

We have a TSC here also but all they can get is mix matched grit of media on a skid. They cant order one grit by the skid. One skid has several 50lb bags of different grits and they are a $1.00 more a bag than Menards. They said that they would match the skid price but I cant deal with the mix match stuff.
