Need To Roughen Edges Of Stone In Swimming Pool

I am a swimming pool builder in CT.

I am installing a stacked stone at the waterline in lieu of tile. The stone is somewhat fragile when worked too much by the mason. (see attached photo)

The edges of the stone are looking too perfect - and I need to do something about it.

Does something exist in the world of sandblasting that can shot at the stone - where it will knock corners and chips out of the edges of the stone?

I have seen "normal" sandblasting - where old paint is stripped off a pool shell, but I do not think that sand (Black Beauty?) is capable of doing the 'damage' I need.

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

No i don't know of anything. I have never heard of someone complaining about a job being too perfect before.

try tourching it like they do bluestone ,that should knock some of the corners off if you hold the nozzle at the right angle....

But it looks pretty nice the way it is....

Re: Need To Roughen Edges Of Stone In Swimming Pool

Hi, I dont know if you've done with the job yet, but my brother-in-law is a mason, we have been working on getting the saw marks out of granite. most people dont like the cut edge they want a natural look of rock. as a trial we blasted with a #5 nozzel, 185 CFM compressor, 100 PSI. Used a medium grade crushed glass and ruffed up the stone to a point that looked good. it was a block piece 1' x 1' took just a minute to do the face. Then Tryed to round edges and smoth them off, worked great but took a little bit of work to remove a lot of rock in spots.but still didn't take much effort.
hope this helps..
Good luck
