Hello From MN & Question For You All

Hi there, my name is Kris I'm a mechanic by day getting into sandblasting in the west metro area of Minnesota saying hi I look forward to learning some more about sandblasting & surface prep by being here.

My current setup is a '78 Gardner-Denver 85 CFM Waukesha powered portable, mac tools supplied air pump & hood, Clemco 4 CF pot w/clemco pneumatic controls that I pieced together on ebay. I don't have the scratch at the moment for a dedicated vehicle so I'm dragging this around with my '94 Toyota 4x4. Mostly use coal slag to blast with, have a few friends that need misc car parts done and been picking up a few jobs word of mouth & via craigslist. I also do some small powdercoating with a converted range & modified Chicago Electric (HF) gun. Next investments are probably going to be a 20' shipping container to blast in & hopefully a better pressure washer before the end of summer

Now that the introduction is over with, my question to you all is, what do you bring with you to a job site? I started a list of what I should bring with me so I can have a checklist of things to huck in the bed of the pickup that is along the lines of this but I'm curious what other items you bring with you to mobile jobs?

Sounds like you got it covered. Thats far more than I take. I don't take anything extra, like extra hose, seals and gaskets. Maybe I should but I don't. I only take what I know I will need. I did not see but may have overlooked it - a tool box with the essentials.

Kris, I have (I believe) the same model compressor. I wanted to know if you had any insight to parts, literature, repair, etc. I'd like to maintain my unit the best I can, so...if you have any info., I'd appreciate it. Thanks

Go talk to Greg Peterson. He owns a stable and unique shop in the Twin cities. I have worked for him in the past mention Anderson Sandblasting Inc. Tell him your, new and I'm trying to help you out. The guy is a huge dick ...Screw him at all and I will know about it. If you have what it takes he will let us know and I will help you

GD made some good stuff...shame that they sold their portable division. GD corporate will be of little to no help with you they might give you a number for a shop up in Brainerd MN if I'm remembering correctly that deals with obsolete GD portable parts. I've had a couple of the plastic lines come apart on the air side and just replaced them with hose barbs and regular 5/16" air line.

The engine side just about everything will be available from your local Napa or Carquest store, I've gotten filters, a carb kit, tune up parts and other misc from them to get the engine back into good running shape when i bought the unit
