Has Anyone Blasted Chain Link Fence?

Hey Guys,

Have got a request for a quote to blast a chain link fence that has been painted at one time and has rust on it. Anyway I need a idea of how many sq. ft. can be done per hour. I know a test blast is the way to find out, but the ground is so soft I can not get close to it yet.

Thanks
Tony

Really for the customer's sake, abrasive blasting chain link fence is not feasable. I mean, there is going to be so much wasted media that he would be better off the just by new fencing and install. If he insist on abrasive blasting, I would not try to blast the fence perfect. I would stand back and just sweep off the fence and then break out the 9 inch 3/8" roller nap and roll a coat of Sherwin Williams Silver Brite paint. Roll the fence on both sides of course. A quick sweep blast will remove the loose coating and take of some of the rust as well. The Silver Brite will take care of the rest. If you do blast it, just remember to look for what is on the other side of the fence while blasting.

Thanks Benny, there is 1400' at 8' high and the painter is the one asking about blasting it. Nothing close to it in fact they are clearing 10' of trees and shurbs from each side and then it is railroad on one side and field on the other.

Do you know anything about the portable powder coating systems(xiom or others)? I also do powder coating and I thinking about add mobile powder coating to my business.

Thank You
Tony

Bulldog, If you have any questions about the xiom system dont hesitate to ask me. We are located in Lexington KY so not too far from you I dont think. We have dont quite a bit of work with it and are actually looking to ramp up our sand blasting side of the process. Maybe we could talk some time. check out my other posts about the system and the work we have been doing with it.
