Equipment Question

I have bought another surfacetek pot and sullair 185 compressor that will be skid mounted . My question is if you all were going to add a truck how would you it to be, flat bed, box, etc? I plan to mount the compressor on the truck.

Re: Equipment Question

Box offers security, but burns more fuel
Flatbed offers no protection, but gets better gas mileage.
me? Flatbed with some sort of metal hood to secure the compressor. maybe something in 1/8 steel for a cover with locking doors for the need to get to areas.

Re: Equipment Question

If you're going to operate anywhere along Livingston Ave between Alum Creek Drive and High street, you want to mount it inside an armored car.

Not really. Just certain parts, like any other bigger city. Columbus is pretty boring, generally. Bulldog lives in the same part of town as Les Wexner, owner of Victoria's Secret, Limited, etc. Pretty posh where he's at.

Re: Equipment Question

Box Truck. I have seen some pretty nice set ups where they have everything mounted inside the box. Even lockers to hold coveralls and clothing. You could haul media and everything inside and safe from the elements should it rain or something. I was going to bid on a complete unit that was mounted in the box on ebay.

Re: Equipment Question

hello all...my name is todd and i live in florida and ran a snap on franchise for 10 years and recently decided to start a blast business.

i just bought a freightliner m2 low profile that i am mounting a sufacetek blast pot and a airman 185 in.it is going to be sideways in front of the big side door opening so it breathes easy and then i plan to run the exhaust out the roof.does this sound logical?i am brand new to this business and will be asking all kinds of questions in the near future. the box is 16 ft long and will allow the compressor to be opened easily and serviced well and also allow a pallet jack to bring in skids of media and also hold all the equipment i will need for all kinds of jobs.the truck came with a liftgate and all.it sure seemed logical to me instead of buying a pickup truck and a trailer to mount everything to.

Re: Equipment Question

Is there a spot here where everyone has posted their trucks/equipment setup? I need some idea's, I'm more a visual guy...
I'm currently running an f-350 with Wilcox services box's and towing my compressor. However, 2 problems. My truck is old and I'd like to update this summer and my equipment is not covered.
Does anyone use an enclosed trailer with their compressor inside the the trailer or mounted?

had a great 10 year run and as we all know things arent so god with the economy and that means the auto repair shops and dealers arent as busy and when they arent makin a abundance of money they arent spending especially on their lively hood.sooo...i decided to leave on a good note and with all my equity and money that i have in my business and go into something a little different and a whole different industry.also there is lots of little things in the snap on world that have changed in 10 years that add up to not make it as lucritive as it was when i started.

Re: Equipment Question

I was sort of perplexed by that response as well? I guess he's a loose cannon on the board? there's always one or two around...

You can think what ever, but I can too. As far as I can tell he is just a jerk. If he is trying to help I sure can not tell by his post that have no meaning.

As far as being in the big leage that may be too but I do not care. My business is taking off and other than the fertalizer(sp) advice I have not seen a post by him that made any cent$ at all.
