Re: Blasting Cars

At my old job, (union) I would watch guys take naps in beds of steel shot, while the others blasted.

some times if they naped to much, we'd blastem', give them a little bee sting.

I know it has nothing to do with the last threed, but thought I'd share..

Re: Blasting Cars

Well, I am also about to switch to corn cob or walnut shells due to soda being too dusty. I never used corn cob on a car before and have a job I could do now but I dont know if I should wait untill Monday to buy some walnut just in case the cob doesn't work. Also, how many bags of corn or walnut shells do you think I will need for this car. All I have to blast are the baige parts and the inside.

Re: Blasting Cars

I ended up blasting the car yesterday. I used five bags of corn and the only 100 lb bag of sugar sand I had.
I think the job would have been easier but the guy tried to remove the paint with paint stripper and it just made the layer of paint thicker.
The corn, in my opinion, was too slow. I mixed some sugar sand in with it
and it stripped down to the metal in one pass and left it smooth.
If I had more sugar sand I could have done the job in about 2 or 3 hours, instead it took me 6. I have more pics in the album.

Re: Blasting Cars

Jet, did you get to watch my walnut vidio on Kill's post (anyone got a #8..) I Finnish most of a door in about eight minutes the whole thing was maybe fifteen or so. Do you think it went slower than that for you? Six hours seems a bit long.
On the inside I use glass because it's cheaper and you can't hurt anything inside except the roof which I still use the non abrasive on them unless they need rust removed.
