Blast Nozzle Question

Can anyone tell me what is the best nozzle to use? I have a Pro Blast unit with a number 5 nozzle. I have seen long venturi nozzles and was woundering if they are better. Also I am interested in buying a fan nozzle does anyone know where to get one at a reasonable price?

Re: Blast Nozzle Question

Size your nozzle by the CFM of your compressor. A long venturi works very well. You will see less production with a straight bore nozzle. It really depends on the type of work that your doing. There is no best nozzle out there. It all depends on what your blasting, what abrasive your using, how much CFM do you have and how much pressure that you need to maintain at the nozzle. I have not heard anything good about a fan nozzle if your trying to blast steel. What I have seen is it is not worth it. If your blasting with soda on substrates like wood or fiberglass then it might be ok to use. If your using sand or coal slag then it is just like the square shooter that was out a few years ago. After a while it just starts to have a round pattern as it wears out. This is just my take on it. But my blast experiance has mostly been in the heavy industrial side anyway. Always shot with big bore nozzles and big air.

Re: Blast Nozzle Question

All I have to say is that was one very good answer Mr. Benny Abbott, on all parts. I will just add that Boron Carbide lasts the longest.
