Re: Always Doging Soda

Did a sun porch for a guy, all brick. (sorry no pic's)
he had two windows and one door into the house
Used the painters tape (blue in the inside) and tryed hull tape on the out side. still blue off! but the inside stayed some what. didn't shot right at it!
still had some light dust in the next room.

still looking for a good tape?

Re: Always Doging Soda

Jim,
We use 2.5" light duty shrink wrap tape from Dr. Shrink. It's not in the catalog and you have to ask them for it. It's great on boats too! How about a big fan on the deck to exhaust the dust or an air scrubber? Maybe a #3 nozzle around the door/window frames???

Glen,
The taping was done by the homeowners handy man it blew off too they didn't care that much I just stayed back away from the frames of the windows and door. They were really happy with the way it looked.

Re: Always Doging Soda

I would like to try that tape for water lines too. I had tried blue painters tape and it eats the edge up and makes it stick to the gel. My gorilla tape works perfectly but it's nine bucks for a 30 yard roll.

Re: Always Doging Soda

gorilla tape is good stuff but it is not cheap and it will leave tape residue on the hull...shrink wrap tape is the best i have seen.

Re: Always Doging Soda

I have been watching the blasting threads with interest. You all do very nice work. I am in the remediation field and have been seriously considering a soda type blaster for doing stud walls, floor joists etc for removing mold discoloration after we "kill the stuff". Any ideas what and where I should be looking for equipment? Is there a lot of cleanup? I have never seen these used but did call a fella to blast a new dump trailer that rusted out after 4 months but he didn't show after I paid the fella 1/2 the upfront fee..
Ideas appreciated!

Re: Always Doging Soda

If you don't ever plan to go into other forms of work, like the dump trailer for instance. You might consider a soda only pot. They are much more efficient if you don't mind being limited to soda. Chesapeak soda clean. or a multi media pot such as my Surface Tek uses a little more soda but offers options for using other media. I have a barely used Eco blast pot for sale as seen on soda-blast.com Endless brands to look at.

You will need to find a compressor also. 185 to 210 is plenty.

Re: Always Doging Soda

thanks guys. I'll get ahold of Chessie Clean or BetterBlast and see what is for sale I have a lead abatement class on Wed and should/may be back on internet Wed night and will contact. I don't know if I would only want a "soda" only machine since my motto is "never say never" and I may want to use a different media but not planning on it.. Thanks!

Re: Always Doging Soda

Glen is right, depends on what you’re blasting and with what media.
Go though the old Post's and read about people’s success and failures.
You might have a better understanding of what you’re up against.

Re: Always Doging Soda

I don't understand the complaints either. I have been blasting with soda for a couple years & am VERY happy with it. However, between working my regular job, working on my building and soda blasting I don't have much time for my Wife & Son. So, I have my equipment up for sale. I noticed FremontREO was looking to possibly start blasting so if he or anyone else out there is looking to buy equipment in great condition give me a shout. Randy @ 563-212-4493 or rpm3@frontiernet.net I have an Ingersol Rand AirSource Plus compressor, a Schmidt Accustrip 11sx for soda, a Marco 3cu.ft. pressure pot for abrasives, a new Clemco helmet, cool tube, charcoal filter & hose, 2100# of Natrium soda, 2000# of 3060 Marco Blast & 50' hoses & #4 nozzles for both units. I am in NW Illinois. Thanks, Randy
