What exactly is "Powder Coating"?

A customer of mine has some real expensive cast aluminum patio chairs. The coating is peeling off. It is supposed to have a lifetime warranty, but the HO doesn't seem interested in going that route (I would, for sure). He wanted me to touch it up?
What exactly does powder coating entail? Does anyone here know of someone in the Houston, TX area that specializes in this stuff? I am having a time just trying to identify the manufacturer (and even less the collection). There is nothing written on the chairs?

If it is peeling, it is NOT powder coated. Powder Coating is some of the BEST and most DURABLE coatings known.

AS far as having these PC'd.....Forget it!!!!

PC is a process that entails a specific preparation of a raw metal. Then the said metal is hooked up to an electrical charge which causes the sprayed or manually applied powder to ionicly bond to the metal.

Then the product is baked in a static or conveyor oven for about an hour.

The finish is pretty darn tough.

Very cool video. Thanks Malco.
Now I really don't know what kind of finish the HO has now. It is coming up in patches. It is a satin finish that kinda looks like paint, but the manufacter wouldn't life warranty paint, I guess?

Actually, that could be PC'd if they wish to pay. The pads come off easily enough.

Acid stripped, then PC'd.

They gotta REALLY want to keep this particular set to justify the cost.
