removing acrylic coating from flagstone

I figured I would try this area. I had installed a beautiful bluestone patio/walkway at my house this year. I wanted to achieve the wet look for the stone, and upon consultation from my supplier, the product select was conprco QS2 shield, an acrylic. It is supposed to be breathable.. It has been on about a month and with heavy rains, it is blistering, and turning milky white (how it comes) After consultation with the local rep, conproco is agrreing that it was for this application, installed properly, but because there is too much underneath moisture, it is doing this. They said it will have to come off. Does anybody know a good stripper that will remove this acrylic without damaging the bluestone?

sounds like your rep is full of crap. they should have never specked that material for you. cant they tell you how to fix it? you better get a credit for the material you purchased.

Can't you just flip the stones over?

if not, ICI sells some strippers that can be spray applied and power washed off. since the stone is a nature stone you will probably have a lot of trouble finding a product that will work without discoloring the stone.

you can call Phips a concrete supply company. they are knowledgeable about the application of sealers and probably how to fix your problem.

If you sand blast the coating off I am sure that will work but you have to have the equipment.

good luck.

stone is set in a wet bed of mortar. Have roof over know with painted columns etc. stripping is going to be a real pain in the . I thought it was kind of a bull answer myself, and I am going to ask for the credit for the material.
