Refinishing oak entry doors in Arizona

I am stripping and sanding two nice oak entry doors to refinish with polyurethane. The customer wants them darker (stained). There is enough damage from desert sun and a previous stripping of stain to cause problems with new stain.

Does anyone know of a blended polyurethane/stain like is available for interior applications?

I wouldn't recommend polyurethane on the exterior. You need something that will stand up to UV rays, which in AZ you have plenty of. A good spar marine varnish would be a much better choice and then plan on going over it again every couple of years.

I second the spar varnish on the exterior side. After staining, let it dry for a day minimum, Apply at least two coats of the varnish, a day apart, sanding after the first coat. Three coats varnish would be optimum.
