What about 'Color Place' at Walmart? We caught the clerk loading the shelves years ago with it and it said Sherwin Williams on the freight boxes and 'color place' on the cans. I asked a painter that next week about it and he confirmed that it is Sherwin Williams paint.

I always wondered about the grade of it though. It is dirt cheap. We use Behr if the cust. doesn't require a specific brand.

Behr semi-gloss is so good I have used it to refinish bathtubs and sinks, it is just the most awesome paint around. I am even thinking of painting my truck with it, the stuff is that awesome.

This is the funniest post I have seen in a long time!!!

You know, you are not supposed to butter your toast with paint!

Top of the line at home depot?? do you realize what you are saying??

Oh, sorry, I didn't see the part where HD tells you it is their best paint, doesn't say much I'm afraid

I missed this post before putting up my previous one.

Sorry Modern Style, I thought you were being serious about Behr until I read this one.

Sometimes I miss the sarcasm. (you are joking right???)

just brush it.

Go to your local hardware store and buy Grey Seal Paint if you want it to last anything else is no good.

Re: How Do I Paint Aluminum Siding

you can save yourself alot of money by buying Behr interior semi-gloss and just putting a bunch of mildew additive in the paint. It works great and everyone knows interior paint is cheaper then exterior paint. I better quit giving out all my secrets ............

Please, we all know Behr is the "best", but I think that Sears interior gloos looks better. It is like $6.99 for 5 gallons. Even though it was not listed the best in its class, I think its the best. Can't beat the price too. Of course, we take Behr buckets and pour the Sears into, so the homeowner thinks were using the best. Works great.

Re: How Do I Paint Aluminum Siding

A better alternative is to prime the weathered aluminum siding with a thinned down oil based metal priming paint. Leading manufacturers recommend using one pint of paint thinner to one gallon of high quality oil based primer. This primer creates a barrier between the oxidized aluminum and the finish paint. However, before you even think of mixing up and applying this primer, you need to prepare the surface for paint. If you read the labels on most paints, they will instruct you to apply the product to a clean, dry surface. How do you get yourself clean? Soap,

Re: How Do I Paint Aluminum Siding

Wash well with TSP to get rid of chalking like mentioned by other guy, wipe with rags is a good idea. Never use oil paint on alum. siding..it doesnt expand and contract with the heat and cold..oil would be good for a while only. The UV rays of the sun will make oil brittle and it will crack in high build areas. All paint stores say acrylic paint for this application.I did one 15 years ago that is still lasting.I have painted 7 since.I sprayed them with a graco 390st airless. I cut in around windows and things first, then carry a piece of cardboard to use as a shield as I spray.Never work in direct sun, paint drys too fast..follow the shade as the sun rounds the place.
