I'm not too sure what kind of lakes would "wipe out" all the birds. As far as I've seen, birds that like water like it whether it's moving or still. I live within 30 min of 7 hydro dams and there is no shortage of birds here. There's also miles of room offshore for wind generation, already being done in texas. Not trying to be a jacka$$ here, but come on, nuclear is the only answer?

I think he may be referring to the reports that big windmills make pretty good bird-slaw of unwary avians who get too close. Generally speaking, I prefer my electric toys to dealing with offal left by the tufted titmouse.
Wind and water power definitely gets the !

Laying aside the fact that they are
expensive ($300 billion for those
currently proposed), and slow
(about 10 years on the fast side).

Green is ok.
Most stuff is still way too expensive for the average Joe (like solar for example).
I encourage customers to use compact fluorescent bulbs and warn them where not to, like outdoors in the cold weather.
But I got to laugh when i see these dopes driving around in their little Smart Cars.

those gas stations.

I cannot believe some of the comments on this forum! The attitudes are totally different here in Europe where only 'green' products are selling and no-one wants the energy-guzzling stuff any more!
For example, our Company sells wastewater treatment plants. Back in February 2009 we decided to add a non-electric wastewater treatment plant called the 'Biorock' to our product list. In spite of it costing 30% more than rival electric models, within 2 months of the launch it was outselling all the other 9 models COMBINED and is increasing its share every week. We no longer even ask which plant people are telephoning about.
Come on over there, wake up before it's too late.

Fortunately, there's a lot more Americans shifting their attitudes and don't see the green movement as a scam at all.

the green movement, global warming, it's all a scam and people are falling for it.
The romans did more damage to the earth 2,000 years ago than we are doing now. Imagine the nice wood that existed in cypress, damascus, syria..... all that pissed away in some coke oven.

Wake up America!
Just because previous civilisations damaged the environment doesn't mean that we are justified in doing the same! How many trees do you plant a year Fast Fred to compensate for the Romans? All of our employees plant a minimum of 20 trees/year to offset their carbon footprint.

Do you know what coke is?
Where it comes from?
How it's made?
What does coke have to do
with the Cedars of Lebanon?

What is the payback time in years on the difference in costs vs energy savings and what is the life expectancy onf the system?

It had something to do with trees,
but I don't think the Romans were
there to cut them down.

The only problem with the "Green Movement" is that it has to be labeled as such, we should be building smarter and with the best possible practices available all the times and just call it "Building". The label Green for some reason just gets some people up in arms over something that is for the good of all.
