Info on Plastic Lumber/Composite Decking

Here's a link to a PDF with some good information for asessing composite decking for green projects.

I was trying to find info on Azek, which is not listed in the guide, however, Azek is primarily a PVC product, which according to the guide is one of the worst for the environment.

Yeah, I've heard that PVC is really bad environmentally. That's a nice list of products, thanks.

Just watched a great documentary on the hazards of PVC - "Blue Vinyl" - its worth a watch. PVC is awful stuff, it lasts long and is a very versitle building product but the danger is in production and disposal. When PVC is burned the gasses/smoke are seriously detrimental to the health of anyone inhales it. I sure am glad I'm not a fire fighter!

HDPE instead

I've used HDPE for decking a floating dock and building a louvered sun screen with it.
It's easy to clean and work with and can be ground into milk jugs when it is eventually demolished.
