Finger Joint studs can be used in all framing stud needs the same as sawn lumber as long as the grade is the same. If code states a number 2 the finger joint must also be a number 2 grade.
the glue has greatly improved year to year. Most boards that break will break in a spot other than a joint. Samples are pulled and tested in the mills hourly to ensure quality. Yes they are straighter and you have 0 kulls compared to sawn lumber. Home builders like that there are less call backs because they do not twist thus they do not cause nail pops or sheet rock cracks. Very little time spent straight edging. Here in StGeorge Utah they are becoming used more as to there is now a local mill serving our area as well as AZ and NV. |
