Constructing Geothermal heating/cooling

The previous thread was concerning cost and efficiency.
I was looking into this after the Longwood College here in VA installed it. Then I saw an episode on TV where they used it in Texas in bus stops and offices. I have 15 acres of land so after seeing all the different articles this is what I come up with to save me some money.

I can dig maybe say 6 trenches, 6 foot deep x 2 foot wide x 100 foot long. Lay 1 inch black roll pipe in the ground, maybe 3 per trench. Then cover them with maybe 1 foot of dirt then compact this so as to maintain contact with the soil, then finish backfilling. Next I can install a coil into an existing furnace and connect the water lines to this. I will install a pump, and a check valve along with a 50 gallon air ballast tank (The type used for well water, this way the pump does not always have to run) and a filler tube. Next I could use our drinking water to fill the pipes, use an air compressor to bleed out the air, then seal the line off. I can incorporate the thermostat to the pump to regulate when the pump should come on. Water runs through coil, the fan blows across coil and voilà, heating/cooling!

Whats your opinion, do you think this will work? I am not a homeowner, I am a licensed building contractor and licensed plumber, so I do have the knowledge to work things out.

buy the equipment and it does work-it's not voodoo magic

there are open and closed systems and even some you can lay the tubing in a pond-enjoy the watching the geese swim while your house is warmed by the pond (lake)! Seems the cost to have a contractor do the work is in the 15-20k range around my area but the materials may be had for less than half (possibly as little as 6k if you really shop it)
