Colored Wood???

I know that the blue colored wood is coated with some sort of insect repellant and moisture barrier. I went by a job the other day that had red colored framing in it. I could only see a few boards through the window, so I don't know if it was red overspray or what. The reason I have gone to this much trouble to find out is that this house is being heavily advertised as a green home.

Re: Colored Wood???

I looked up fire retardant wood and haven't seen any that are actually red. Maybe it is just another type of fire treatment coating.

Re: Colored Wood???

About ten years ago I framed a house for a builder and the studs were red. So it might not be a new green product. Cant remember exactly what it was. I'm thinking it was a different kiln process not sure though.

Re: Colored Wood???

I just found it. It is Forticel Mold Growth Inhibitor Coating. The red color in it was only an inert dye that shows the coverage of the coating.
