Stamped Concrete

We are just getting into stamped concrete this year. A good friend has been doing for 10 years or so and is coming in to help me learn and get started. Here is some pics so far. Let me know what you think.

Re: Stamped Concrete

Looks good! I have seen only bad jobs around my area, mostly poor prep work. How far can you span it on the ground without having cracks?

Just remember when running them stamps try to break up the joints more. I see u have alot of runners
just limit them to no more then 3 and break the joint it will look 150 % beta.

So, you've never stamped before?

That's not how ashlar patterns work.

Re: Stamped Concrete

What brand cobblestone mats were you using? I've never seen any that allow for moving off line. Stamps are set up to use in a specific arrangement, it's usually impossible to change the layout of your mats.

Doubleaction- look into Stegemeier forms for your steps and vertical work. Vertical work is always a problem with stamping. There was a great product called the Versaliner a few years ago, but I think they're gone now. We would often use Segemeier for step edges and finish the top with a stipple finish instead of a seamless, it gives more of a stone look.

Re: Stamped Concrete

no prints just a homemade roller, used for sidewalks so the straight lines are deeper and end up as the control joint. 42" wide drum.

Re: Stamped Concrete

I guess I don't know what you're talking about. How do you "break up the joints more"?

Re: Stamped Concrete

with the cobble stone look they run like bricks so yes a line every course. I ment with the stamping, Do they make the stamps with more then 1 stone in it or are the single stone stamps? If single i would think u can buy the right stamps so ya dont get any 4 coners or long joints, kinda like blue stone patio lay outs.

Re: Stamped Concrete

thx for the site. I see they caring theses sizes 12"x12",, 12"x18",18"x18",,18"x30" ,,24"x24",, and 36"x36", Should be able to jog them joints and keep it too 3 stone in a row and no four cornerswith a minimum jog of 6 ",,, sry but that rule of thumb has ben beaten into me head pretty good lol. now another ? when they say 12"x12" is it a tru 12" or the inside of pad 11-5/8"x11-5/8"?? oh and a critical size is a 18x36 and a 24x30 that they did not show for pads.
