I was looking through some old photos I took back when I worked for another contractor just thought I would share. Do you guys like working on tall scaffolding?

Re: Scaffolding Pics

As long as the scaff is secured to the building I don't mind it.

That ain't tall....now this...this is TALL:

http://www.copper.org/copperhome/Kid...eclothed3.html

That's the Statue of Liberty during the repair job.
Just over 150' high.

But that is NOT the highest scaffolding job
Quote:
The world's tallest scaffolding was 198-m (650-ft) tall. It was erected around the New York City Municipal Building by Regional Scaffolding & Hoisting Co. of New York City, USA. The scaffolding was in place from 1988 to 1992. It was comprised of 12,000 scaffold frames and 20,000 aluminium planks.

Now if someone has a pic of that!

I have some shots (taken by me) of the Goldman Sachs project in Jersey City, NJ. The scaffold was NOT around the entire building...only by the elevators(external). The GS building is the tallest bilding in NJ at some 800 odd feet/40+ stories.

(Not shot by me)

As long as the scaffold is erected properly, clearances from wires maintained, you tie-off as required, etc ....nothing to worry about.

Re: Scaffolding Pics

The height doesn't bother me, it's the stupid stuff like when you climb down to get something, get distracted by the homeowner or neighbor, and forget what you came down for. Arrrrghhh! Why is it the only way to remember what you came down for is to climb back up again? Gotta write stuff down I guess...

Or you come down for something and climb back up with an armload of everything else you thought of on the way down but what you came down for in the first place. Arrrrghhh again!

Re: Scaffolding Pics

Here are some photos from India.

They show typical scaffolding, a site concrete batching and mixing system and a typical finished building.

Re: Scaffolding Pics

Bamboo scaffolding is the most common for buildings in China. I have seen it well over 20 stories AND they do put materials on it also.

Many exteriors are stucco or tile, so they work down. When building they lay the masonry up with pockets for lateral bracing. They fill the pockets when they finish downward.

It is usually screened for safety and sun/weather protection. It is really stable because it holds up to the wind with the screening on it. When you are on it, it feels rock solid because of the diagonal bracing.

It does not have to stand all that long since many jobs are going 24x7 and the emplyees live on the construction site.
