I can not find a copy of it online or even a summary. Do you have access to it?
Is this any help? http://www.techstreet.com/standards/...uct_id=1254324

Looks expensive

No, I found it to buy, I was hoping you knew of a link to something online summarizing the standard, kind of like this for the US:

As for all the H-bone FP's, I think they all look good, especially the one that artisan re-lined. I'm glad to hear you "glued" thins in there, as I don't think I could ever possibly build that box successfully. I know you do great work, but when I saw that box a year or so ago, it made me feel like a hack.

Here's my feeble attempt at a 45* firebox on my own patio last year. Didn't want to go full blown H-bone yet, so this was alot easier. Even so, it's alot of complex cutting.

It looks clean and has a nice slope..

Hi Joe
That's a friend of mine who specialises in rubbed and gauged work. I havn't built one since college, when we did one as a group and put the key brick in with a 14lb slege hammer.

Re: Roughed Fireplace

Brickstrecher,
I was wrong. I realize now that you were veneering up an old box with splits thus following what was already existing. Not a good canidate for a herringbone.

Re: Roughed Fireplace

This was a new construction masonry firebox. And that little part that throws off the look for you is the corner of the full brick if the air intake wasn't there.

Re: Roughed Fireplace

In response to the horizontal line in the FireRock fireplace, here are some details of the back wall of the firebox. The backing was already laid before the HO saw a picture of a herringbone fireplace and decided she wanted one.The joint was discussed with the architect and HO and accepted. Ideally a different style firebox would have been chosen, but you do the best you can with what you have to work with.

Re: Roughed Fireplace

It was the owners mistake then. That makes more sense. That detail caught my eye and I started looking it over with greater critique. I would still suggest shifting the layout.

Re: Roughed Fireplace

The owners are very happy with the pattern. If they are happy, then my job is done.
