Re: Pics Of Work [mail Boxes]

The first one is tight. The second one has issues. Please take this only as constructive criticism, because Lord knows my work is far from perfect (sometimes on purpose).

I would redo the mailbox arch altogether. As a rule, it does not work to cut some of the arch brick and not others once you get a brick above the spring line, and you have some major mortar gappage there as well.

Second, why did you do the planter box radius on the left as you did?

Thirdly, did you use wall ties between the mailbox and planters?

Overall, I really like the design and layout, keep after it!

Re: Pics Of Work [mail Boxes]

good eye .. on the mailbox arch dull saw blade, i was laboring for myself and I got lazy..thank u for putting me in check next one will be right would redo but this is for my sis mother in law hence no pay ...no laborer but thats not why I'm not gonna redo they don't have much money and she's happy with it and would probably die if I went back out and started tearing it apart..more mud more brick=more money.. there really good people gave me a place to stay when I was younger..also really need to get my work out there and it ain't gonna happen sitting at home. as far as radius flower bed was gonna be square but was running short on brick tied in the back. flower bed is thoghrly weeped with step down retaining system starting at heighth and stair steped down going in ...each course holds its level of dirt leaving 6 to 8 ''s for floral ...also clarify " why the radius on the left" as it is radius on both sides ? box on the right will be p-gravel with sighn that has there name sticking out....your 100% right about the arch need to pay attention to detail and make it as perfect as I can get it. I felt it was good enough but good enough ain't never good enough thank u for that....all cratiques welcome ...except for my spelling just kiddin ...suprised noone said any thing about what it's sitting in front of by the way the more complex one got me the other job hopefully more to come...

Re: Pics Of Work [mail Boxes]

On the right, you used halves and somewhat maintained bond, on the left, you broke the radius into panels (vertical head joints aligned).

I kind of thought about that but kept my mouth shut, now that you bring it up these are very nice mailboxes for a single and a double wide

ditto.....the arch on the 2nd one is the biggest thing I ca see. It would never pass grade.

I do like the design though with stone and brick and might try to duplicate it on my mailbox which I need to build this spring.

To me the only thing that looks good is to cut them all the same....not fun or easy but the only solution I know that looks right.
