pathway

I was contracted to build an irregular flagstone walkway, dry-lay, about 70' long by 5' wide.

Knowing that it would double the labor and thus eat into profits I still decided to go ahead and lay these stones so that they butt up against each other nice and tight. Average seam is lmaybe a quater inch, many are much less--when I broke a stone or two with the mallet whilst leveling them off, they were quite difficult to pry loose.

Since I rarely see patios and never have seen a walkway built so tightly spaced (and since my perfectiionism cost me dearly!) I figured I'd share.

What kind of stone is that? Is it laid in mud?... And what state are you in?

Full color range irregular inch and a half flagstone.

They are laid on a bed of screenings, about an inch deep, atop a foundation of modified gravel. Laid in mud? If you are refering to the bare topsoil on the side of the walway, the customer is having that area planted in the fall. For now its grass seed.

Oh. And LOL. Since I had already specified that this was a dry-lay, I thought you were breakin balls and suggesting that the site looked messy!

I am in Pa.
