Dry Stacked Stone Wall

I finished this up about a month ago. Humph, just before I herniated my back. Wonder if there is a connection. Anyway. Here is my latest.

Re: Dry Stacked Stone Wall

Best part about this job was that its mine. So the wall is nice, that hot tub is nicer

I am concerned about how it will hold up to the frost this winter, but it looks like I will find out soon enough. This whole yard is clay with numerous water veins running through it so it freezes fast and moves alot.

Thats the great thing about a dry stone wall if there is any frost heave then so what the wall can rise and fall twist and turn and still look good.
Normally though to finish of your wall you should have used large capping stones on top to lessen water penetration from the rain. Maybe look into that for next year.

But overall the job looks great.

Thanks Bob,

My actual plan was for Blue Stone Capping with a chisled edge, but I ran out of money. I have some slate, should I lay that on top for the winter?

The blue stone capping sounds like the ticket but yeah sure lay the slate on over winter but dont stress about it.

If you can, get yourself an MRI. My back pain which began as Sciatica was really two herniated discs. Can't pin point it to one specific job, usually years of abuse, but it let go after digging out a hot tub pad for a customer. It can be treated without surgery. Mine is and I am doing much better, though I don't have the ability to lift heavy stuff for a while anymore.

If you don't have insurance (I don't), don't be shy about negotiating a price for the services. I was able to get my MRI for $400 and I am Bartering for the treatment.
