Boulder columns

This is a subdivision entrance we just finished. Twelve columns in all. 85 tons of stone. 5 masons. Roughly 3 weeks. I'll take some more pics once they have gates and landscaping.

Pretty work.
What are the openings at
tops of the gate posts?

Cool. Lights on the one with opennings at the top.

I can see the differences in the workman's ship in the different columns. The first ones look like the masters did them and the last one looks like they let the new guy do that one.

Haha, yeah, this is production work. Very strict (cheap) budget. I actually had a clause in my proposal that stone and boulder placement was up to my discretion and wouldn't be changed. The little retaining walls were actually left as exposed block on their backside. None of it is really meant to be seen up close.

Good work, esp. for being on a budget.

Am I the only one that thinks the one column looks like it has a drumstick attached at the bottom.
