Whatwas The Problem?

Yesterday I posted a question about help with plumbing layout and ED THE ROOFER closed the thread and refered me to the DYI forum. Since I could not contact him I will post here. If you do not want my question posted here that is fine but if you go to post 35864 in this forum.
it is the same thing I did. Ask for help. Why the double standard?
We are all just looking for help. If a pro does not want to give advice he won't.

Re: Whatwas The Problem?

Paul,

All of your questions to date tend to lead one to the conclusion that you're a DIYer and not involved in the construction trades professionally.

There is an apparent double standard when you start to compare one post to another. It is not uncommon for someone in the trades to try to learn something new and to make a post that, on the face, seems they are new to a subject and are seeking advice on how to proceed.

That is not the basis of closing down your thread. The basis was your previous posts and the nature of them. None of your posts have offered advice, opinion, help, warning or even indifference to another's post. They all seek to mine information only.

This has led us to conclude that you are not in the trades as you claim. Perhaps if fill your profile out a bit more and post an introduction explaining your trade/business to us, we can better understand and interpret your posts in a less harsh light.

I'm closing this thread.

If you feel these closings are wrong and that Ed and I have acted improperly, please use the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of every page to contact Nathan, the site administrator and talk to him about it.

Paul,

Just for my own perspective, your post was reported as a DIY'er post. If that is in fact true, which I attempted to discern from reading your posting history, then this forum is not the appropriate one for you to be seeking Pro's advice from.

If in fact, you are a contractor, then please accept my apologies, and put some thought into the previous suggestion made regarding providing a fuller profile and an introduction post.

Some questions slip by us and do not get reported, since we can not read every single post each day on our own limited volunteer time. Other questions, which at first sighting, may seem to fall into the DIY category, but are actually a tradesman/contractor attempting to broaden their knowledge base. Those are welcomed, since they can also add to the nurturing input about their skilled profession down the road.

Many of the "Pro's" who do like to respond to the DIY questions also make themselves available on the www.DIYchatroom.com site, so the quality of the responses tend to not get diluted by being sent to that other forum.

Good Luck on your quest for the information you seek.

Ed
