What's it called?
I was watching ask this old house about a month ago. They went to this womens house in park ridge illinois. The problem. When her subdivision would flood the water would work its way back through her sewer pipe and flood her basement. The solution. They dug to the sewer pipe in the front yard cut out a section and installed a cast iron section that has like a trap door in it. It allows water to flow out but if water tries to flow back in it cant because of that door in the cast iron pipe. It was about 4 feet long and awesome looking. I can't find any info on what that is called. Any ideals.

I used to live in Park Ridge before I moved to this dump (Lombard), a check valve or backflow prevention Device (BPD).

nice post, I didn't know about these valves until now. I guess they are designed for mobile lots and such.

Thats the kind she originally had. It blew out because of the pressure from the flood. So they replaced it with a awesome cast iron one.
