Re: What Is This? Pressure Regulator?
Looks foreign to me, kinda of looks like a divertor of some sort, with a diaphram associated with it.
Any marking or numbers on it to help identify it? |

Re: What Is This? Pressure Regulator?
Im interested in knowing what it is. At first I thought it had to do with gas, but most likely not. It definitey looks like a diverter of some type. If anyone knows, please post.

Re: What Is This? Pressure Regulator?
Paperweight with half-unions and productivity valve connected to decorative tubing.
May be used in emergencies to break glass up to 2.5mm thick. Not to be used on stacks of paper exceeding 5 sheets nor on desks with load ratings of less than 5 inches of BS per square meter.

Looks like a pressure reducing valve to me.

Re: What Is This? Pressure Regulator?
It's not a regulator all by itself. The copper tubes monitor the pressure differential between the top and bottom sides of the diaphragm. My best guess is that it's for protecting against cross-connections. It's probably used in-line with some sort of constant pressure reducing valve or a check valve. You probably test it the same way as well. Notice the bleeder valve.

Re: What Is This? Pressure Regulator?
Diaphragm operated make up feed valve. Pressure on underside of diaphragm forces needle valve shut at top of valve inside diverter. When line pressure falls needle valve opens allowing make up water to flow. There is steam involved somewhere. Diverter allows flow to machinery (possibly small boiler or oil cooler of some type) or to water sample port (short copper line to right) for water analysis. Port on lower left allows make up feed water to flow into diverter chamber except when needle valve prohibits flow. This unit has been modified with the brass tee to allow continuous flow to something through the top of the tee. There was probably another isolation valve not far beyond the top of the tee. If the equipment served was old and leaky the demand for make up water may have been so great that they modified to allow continuous flow effectively bypassing feed valve. Flow through bypass line was probably regulated to a more or less constant rate by partial closure of isolation valve downstream from top of tee. All make up water can be stopped via isolation valve (lower left, black valve handle upside down).
P.S. I have no idea what I'm talking about but man my explanation sounded good!

Haha... military precautions :: Every exit door, every window, every valves must have custom own by-pass and alternative routes to survive!!.. even small devices to breath with air masks.. j/k
