What Is Going On???

OK, why was my post about a hot tub closed?

I thought this forum was for professionals who seek to discuss professional methods of the trades?

Well, that is EXACTLY what I was wanting to do - dialogue with other professional tradesmen.

Re: What Is Going On???

Because your asking how to install one, this forum is more towards discussion of the plumbing trades and not for the how to do this and do that, I'm happy to help you out if you take your question to diychatroom.com.

Sorry if you take it the wrong way, but if we start allowing this type of questions to carry on, this will turn into a DIY Forum and that is not what this site is about.

Re: What Is Going On???

I must say Ron, the amount of DIY questions from non-plumbers in the plumbing section is rather annoying.

The most annoying thing is when a new member come on here and there very 1st post is about installing something, for all we know this could be some homeowner and not a real contractor/tradesman.

Re: What Is Going On???

It appears that you guys are quite prejudice in your judgment.

I have read through NUMEROUS posts in this exact forum, and must say, there are plenty of questions being asked that are of the exact same nature as mine.

There are many aspects to the various trades, including plumbing, and just because one plumber asks about a specific method of a particular phase of a project, in no way, indicate that he is merely a "do-it-yourselfer".

I was not aware that this portion of the forum was strictly for perfect plumbers who know ALL aspects of everything on earth to do with plumbing.

From my experience in kitchen and bath remodeling, often removing the results of very poor workmanship by "professional" plumbers, that has led me to believe that many plumbers only think they are professional.

I guess I made the mistake of assuming there were other normal human plumbers in here who were not just "know-it-alls" who pass judgement on fellow tradesmen whom they know nothing about.

Ron, I suggest, if you are going to judge the nature of my original question, that you take the time to read ALL the posts. If you do, you will see the most simple things being asked in here, which obviously indicate that the one asking is NOT a professional plumber, by your standards anyway (those in which led you to believe that I am merely a DIYer).

I now know why so many plumbers are bad plumbers (based on what I see in the field). They are afraid to ask questions to enhance their skill, for fear that their peers will be too quick to judge them.

I am not sure what kind of forum you are running here. I signed up and went through the process, answering all questions honestly as a professional remodeler, and now I am being sent to the DIY forum.

Still not sure what this forum is for - chit chat for the "pros" or a place to help one another, as professional tradesmen.

Jonny

Jbrett14, probably it is because you used the word "user" in your profile? If you are contractor, then change your profile to pro status then.

To the OP, if you read all of the posts
you will find that there are an inordinate
number that are definitely DIY's and HO's looking
for ammunition to beat our brothers with.
The more detail in post and profile, the less likely
you are to be mistaken for the "other."
Sometimes this place is just like the job site,
the new guy gets tested a bit, and only the real
deal will come through the hazing.

That said you'll find we treat the plumbers
and sparkys better on our side of the room.

Lose the attitude.

I see our initial "read" of you was correct. A plumbing DIYer trying to weasel in for some free advice from the pros.
