What Do You Think About The New Generation Of Interchangeable/upgradeable Valves?

Wave of the future or a flash in the pan? Moen's M pact valve system that allows you to change the look of faucets without having to do any plumbing work...

Delta's MultiChoice, allowing you to upgrade the type of shower valve, from pressure balance to thermostatic by changing just the cartridge...

Nice stuff, but is there any market for it? We install a lot of faucets and shower systems but I can't think of a single customer who if given the choice here is a valve that allows you to do what these do and here is one that doesn't, the one that does costs $20 more, which one do you want? Can't think of a single customer who would pay the $20 more or any amount at all for this option.

Who are these made for? Customers are sometimes like cats, they are attracted to shiney objects, they often can't see value in something behind the walls that they can't see, feel or get some immediate benefit from.

Can or does anybody sell these specific valves by selling their benefits?

The Moen ones are pretty much going in no matter what, since the M Pacts are what come with a lot of their 8" wide faucets whether you want them or not.
