What Is It Called And Do They Still Make Them?

I have a customer who is debating wether or not to tear out this tub. They would be willing to keep the tub if they can upgrade the faucet/barrel waste shown.
I have never had to replace one.
Do any of you know what it is called?
And yes, My plumber will be doing the work.
I would just like to do some research before going over the final options with my customer.
Thanks,
Mike

freestanding clawfoot tub faucet. A little more elaborate, but there are many reproductions out there.

I think there is more than just a faucet going on here It looks like the overflow is part of the faucet or the drain is or both. I can;t tell if the thing on the top is the trip lever for the drain or the spout. If this fills below the tub rim then you will probably need backflow preventers .

That has me confused too. I'd go for the over the rim type fill pipe and call it legal.

You should tear that thing out right away, it is a cross connection waiting to happen, and has the potential to poison more than just the homeowner. There are many manufacturers that make a faucet that will replace that and allow them to keep the unique corner tub, Kohler, California Brass, Dornbracht, and Chicago are a few that come readily to mind, and finished waste and overflows are available as well.

Thanks so far guys.
Nap, you are correct.
The hot and cold supply wrap around the barrel waste and then to a single spout into the tub.
Sorry for the bad pics.
I took them as a reminder for myself.

I didnt see any at Van Dykes... I know that they are still made however.. You can get the External Overflow WITHOUT the attached supply's as well, so you can replumb the supply's differently and avoid the cross contamination threat Killer mentioned. My brother just had three new tubs done in his Brownstone in Brooklyn, and I already emailed him to find out where he got the parts.

Re: What Is It Called And Do They Still Make Them?

Splinter, Great idea forgoing the hot and cold and just installing a new barrel. However that would require roughing a new shower body and tub faucet, which they may or may not decide to do.
Also, I forgot I took this picture as well.
As you can see, I am pulling on the barrel waste.
The hot and cold look as though they go around the waste and int the tub.
Judging by the sweat joints, it looks as though it is pt together on site.
WTF.
