Waterline Tapping

Has anyone ever tapped an 8" steel waterline for a branch run?

steel? this inside of a building, or buried outside? you're not talking about cast iron, ductile iron pipe, are you? i would think your supplier should be able to get you a tapping saddle/corporation valve for that pipe if it's IPS sized. you will have to borrow/rent/buy the tapping tool. it's not difficult at all

Re: Waterline Tapping

What size branch do you have to install? If you can shut it down and drain it you could hole saw it and use a saddle style tap.

if the pipe is IPS, you should be able to get a tapping saddle and corporation valve and do it hot
