Water Softner Question?

Can someone explain to me why my brine readings are at 50 and 43 on my two brine tanks? I have never seen them this low. My co-workers added salt to the brine pit the last two days, but the level has not risen. A normal reading for us is between 85-93.

I understand the basic concept of a water softner system, and this tells me that for some reason the water and salt are not mixing in the brine tank. What should/can be done?

Re: Water Softner Question?

What kind of salt (brand) are you using? How are you checking the brine level?

Re: Water Softner Question?

I'm in Japan, so I use a Japanese vendor for the salt. How do I check the brine level? I use a salometer to take readings in the brine tanks.

This is a commercial setup, not residential. Probably should have said that before. I'm using 3 Kisco Triple DV 3660-2 1/2's

There is plenty of salt in the brine pit and plenty of water, about 1/2 full of water right now.

After looking at the past few days usage (I've been off) it seems that our soft water useage has doupled for the past 4 days. I can only conclude that the softners have been cycling so much that the water refilling the brine tank hasn't had enough time for absorbtion.

Any other thoughts?
