you could use a AAV depending on were you live....im not a fan of them but if code allows it....it is a good option

the code states that as long as you have at least one vent through the roof, then all other fixtures can be vented with a air admittance valve (AAV) as long as it is a code approved AAV, not one of those spring operated trailer vents. Studor is the brand I use.

If you are going to put one on the sink, go to your local plumbing wholesale store (Not home depot, or lowes0 and ask for the P-Trap with built in AAV. You install it just like a regular P-Trap

I don't know what code you guys go by or where you can put an AAV below the flood level rim of any sink but it sure won't fly with NSPC in NJ

Mechanical vents do not meet code here.

Virginia. Also if you look at the international plumbing code and see how to connect an island sink. The AAV would have to go below the flood rim of the sink, where else can you put it at?? And you have to vent the sink, right? after all the national code says all fixtures and traps must be vented

Here you have to run an island sink vent, and reconnect it at 42" AFF, with a crossover between the waste and vent to drain the vent if the waste gets blocked.

Re: Venting 1/2 Bath On 1st Floor

i now have my kitchen gutted and realized the kitchen sink isn't vented at all

never had any real issues with it?? the only vent is 1 1/2 with 3 fixtures should i change this to a 2" and see if i can get the kitchen to it and i think i might be able to get the 1/2 bath to it with a little extra work
this would now be 6 fixtures
the top of the vent pipe only sticks out of the roof about a foot and its not above the toilet tank but it is above the bowl?? is this alright or ahould it be higher
thanks

Change the vent to 2" which is min size here, check your code for toilet vent size.
