Truly Shocking!
What can you do to safeguard against getting shocked in a wet crawlspace? (need interesting answers for a class). Beside the obvious, like GFCI on your power source. ANY GOOD STORIES?

Re: Truly Shocking!
What I do is if there`s any question about having to crawl over any power lines I pull the meter.
Now if` I`m just working by a line I look it over and again, "if I have ANY question about the condition of the line I pull the meter". If the crawlspace is flooded I pull the meter because you cant see a line under the water or under ground that's under the water. The Power CO would rather have you cut the tag off and pull the meter then have the EMS pull a dead plumber out of a crawlspace Oh and if the crawlspace is flooded I use my cordless tools and lights Save your life and think TWICE

Re: Truly Shocking!
One really good way to get killed is to disassemble a pipe under a house, for example, to replace a valve. This is especially true in older homes. The pipe may be the only ground in the house's electrical system. If you have to do something like that, use electrical clamps and a heavy (like #2) wire between the clamps before you disconnect anything. Otherwise, you, laying in the wet ground, become the system ground.
