Toilet Install
Moving to new shop which doesnt have a toilet. The drain was installed and there is a water source. Does the system need to be vented for the toilet to operate and no harsh consequences to occur? Or can I just place in the toilet hook it up and be confident that it will work without sewer gases coming up through the toilet? There are no other fixtures installed in shop.

Re: Toilet Install
Yes you have to vent the system, not doing so can and will be hazardous to your health.

Re: Toilet Install
No vents will cause methane gas to escape. It not only smells bad, but it could be deadly.....

When you say "the drain was installed"--what exactly is there?

Re: Toilet Install
I am uner the assumption that the building wasnt coded for living and when the slab was poured they installed a septic system and covered the drain to pass inspection. Then it was uncovered. I thought it would need to be vented just wanted to be sure. Now any ideas on how to achieve that. There is a 2 inch drain supposed to be used for a sink can I used that pipe as the vent asumming that it is connected together. Will that be enough to keep the gases down. Could I build my tree off of that drainage pipe adding a sink?

Re: Toilet Install
Yes if it is connected then add the tee and vent it out the roof.
