Tie Into Existing PVC Drain Lines - Code Issues?
I'm adding a bathroom in a bonus room above my garage, and I've got to tie into an existing PVC main drain line that runs around the perimeter of my basement.
It is a 3" main line, and having become sensitive to the plumbing codes, I've noticed that the existing lines use an abundance of sanitary tees laid "on their back" - pretty much everywhere that I would have thought a combo or wye should have been used (vertical line teeing into a horizontal drain). Basically everywhere a drain comes from a upper story bathroom or where fixtures on the first floor tie into the main drain line, there is a sanitary tee. The house was built 4 years ago, and obviously passed inspection to get a CO. So now that I'm going to modify the existing drain (to add my new drain line), do I have to worry about this? -Simon |

You should not worry about the existing but do any new work right.
