Tempering Tank
My nat gas water heater is getting a little long in the tooth and I'm looking at replacement options.
Several years ago, I replaced my 50 y/o FAG furnace with a heat pump/gas hybrid and I'm well pleased with the performance and economy. Consequently, I've been interested in heat pump water heaters, but can't make the numbers work. So, I'm thinking of using a tempering tank which would take advantage of the heat pump supplied warm air in the winter to pre-heat the water before using gas to finish it off. Here's the question: Any reason not to use a cheap 50 gal WH as the tempering unit? I haven't found a tempering tank locally. |
