Sump Pump Question
Do all drains in house need to be plumbed to the sump pump? Or can check valves be used? Friend is putting addition on his house and new bathroom is below sewer level and requires pumps. Will the old plumbing which works fine need to be rerouted to pump in case of clogging at main or can check valves be installed? House has plenty of room underneath to access so replumbing to the catch basin would not be hard no slabs everything is accessible.

Re: Sump Pump Question
His plumber has the answer.
Maybe I misunderstood the question, but even a GC would know that answer. |

Re: Sump Pump Question
Plumber was there today and I asked him he says check valves but seems the easy way out and possibility of disaster. The houses I built never required a pump. From look on plumbers face he looks clueless. Friend will probably get burned again. Foundation guy wrote up contract saying house would take 40 yards and each additional yard $450. Said at most he would go over 5 yards hes poured 65 and not done yet. I guess you guys on this Forum are just as Scandolous as the plumbers we deal with day 2 day. If I had a Plumber to refer him to Im sure he would seek another bid or opinion. Its hard to find a sub around here worth reffering without getting blamed for reffering them. The only good plumber I know bills $105 an hour for his guys plus material + 15% and you need to be scheduled in months in advance. Last time I asked him He said he is staying away from remodels and additions.

Re: Sump Pump Question
This winner is fast making a habit of insulting people on here. Based on this post, 105 an hr isn't enough to deal with him.
To the OP, have a little respect....no one owes you anything. While you obviously think you know everything...it's clear you don't. So why you think that insulting plumbers on this forum is going to actually get you the answers you want...I dunno.......could you simply be retarded? I mean what else could it be?

Re: Sump Pump Question
How many yards do you have to
pour into a sump pit to make a check valve work on a catch basin below the sewer level? ![]() ![]() ![]()
