Submersible Pump

I have a submersible pump/line voltage at a spring 1000ft. from my house. My pressure tank and switch is located at the house. My control wire going to the house has a break in it somewhere. My question is can the pressure switch be located at the pump? Will there be too much turbulence 6ft. from the pump and the switch will short cycle? I would like to put the switch at the pump rather than replace the control wire. Thanks....dadzo in Pa.

Re: Submersible Pump

How are you gonna put a pressure switch at a submersible pump? Why would you want to?

Re: Submersible Pump

What kind of submersible pump is this?

A real 4" well pump? If it is, is it a 2 wire or 3 wire pump? If it is a 3 wire pump what are you going to do with the control box that has the capacitors in it?

More info is always helpful.

Re: Submersible Pump

It is a real 4" submersible that is used in a deep well, but the spring is only 6 ft. deep. The system has a bladder tank that holds 16 gal. of water so the pump does not cycle on and off. The tank is located at the house along with the pressure switch, to keep it from freezing. The pressure switch (30-50psi) cycles the pump on and off. Without the tank and pressure switch the pump would cycle on and off rapidly. It is a 2 wire, but a 3 wire could have also been used in this application. A low voltage dbl. pole contactor is located at the pump sight and a UV 14 ga. wire from the spring to the pressure switch located at the house.

Re: Submersible Pump

Actually, without the pressure switch, the pump would just run constantly. It's the pressure tank that prevents the on/off cycling. If I can remember correctly, the pressure switch needs to be within 10' from the pressure tank. I always install them on the tank tee, even with a jet pump.

Why don't you just get your line voltage from the house? If the lines out from the pressure switch to the pump are good. If I'm understanding your post properly then that would make the most sense.
