Stinky Water

I changed out the bathroom faucet and replaced it with an American Standard. It's a spread set with plastic flex lines supplied by AS. When the cold water is turned on it has a bad sulphur smell. All the other supplies in the house are hard lines and I don't have this problem with any other faucets. The hot water comes off a BoilerMate and also doesn't smell from the same faucet. What is it with the plastic supply and cold water??
Details: Well water
High iron content
Water softener set for every 6 days and I add Iron
Out with the salt.

Re: Stinky Water

Never heard of this problem before, I don't have a clue for you, this will usually happen on the hot side of the water distrobution system, but in all faucets not just one, and never on the cold side.

Re: Stinky Water

Draw a glass of water from the cold side and let it sit overnight to see if iron forms in the bottom. If it does, then the iron is still getting past the water softener and there is probably iron consuming bacteria present giving off the smell. I learned that from my softener supplier.

If this did not happen before the faucet was replaced, I am not too sure about what it could be though. The faucet should not make a difference. I hope this helps. Jason
