Stem Extension For Kohler Valve? Ooops...

Everyone has done it once, right? I set a Kohler single handle shower valve a 1/2" too deep in the wall. Now the handle won't engage the stem. Does anyone know if an extension is available that can slide over the existing one?
The long stem that is supplied with the valve is not long enough.

Thanks,
Mike

You're very welcome. Why don't you just contact Kohler?

Hmmm. I don't recall seeing them available at all from Kohler.

By the way, although I've done at least my share of stupid things, I don't remember ever having done this one.

Re: Stem Extension For Kohler Valve? Ooops...

I hate to admit it, but I did the same thing not too long ago. (In my defense, the plastic mud cover WAS ABSOLUTELY FLUSH with the finished wall surface, yet the trim wouldn't go on...happened on two valves in the same house) If by chance it is a Forte valve, I was able to put a few washers between the plastic thingy that receives the threaded handle escutcheon, and the thingamajig that it attaches to. That gave me enough room to thread it on.

I'll check my plumbing supply house in the morning to see if they have a fix.. And maybe the thingamajig on the whitchijigger...

I wonder if the 2nd best plumber in Alabama has ever done this?

I stand corrected, they do offer deep rough-in kits for some of their valves/trims. Kewl.

I can tell you know your plumbing well.

Hope the whatchamacallit fit. Don't forget to put the thingamabobber on afterwards.
