Standard Faucet?

House built in 1945,has an original 4 Handle STANDARD tub/shower valve,I know they used to be used in the early days but does anyone know if these are standard seat and washer stems.Hate to take apart and not be able to find a seat for it,or does anyone know where to find parts for these, its leaking bad and they want to keep the original faucet, plus with it being 4 handle they would need tile work done.Any help Please?

Re: Standard Faucet?

Why don't you try to resurface the seats. It might help if you can't do anything else. And welcome to the forum......

I remember coming across this 4 handle faucet about a year ago. What I end up doing was ripping this old system out and installing today's standard 3 handle. Those are standard size seats and washer stems. The one I took out was also leaking behind the wall.

There are hundreds of plumbing salvage places to search in your town or web. If HO want to keep old system, then I would start replacing the stems and seats, gaskets, etc.,however, this is very time consuming.

good luck.

Re: Standard Faucet?

Standard Sanitary and Amercian Radiator merged in the early 1900's to form American Standard. The stems and seats are more than likely still being made, but without a picture and possibly some measurements I can't tell you for sure. It is possible that we have what you need in stock
